Covid-19 Vaccination Resource

12/21/2020

Now that the first doses of vaccine have arrived in Vermont, many of us may have questions about how and when to get vaccinated, and what that even entails.  Northwestern has created this online resource to answer some common questions about the vaccine: www.northeastern.edu/covid-19-how-to-be-safe-and-resilient/vaccinations/#/

We look forward to hopefully a few months from now when we can start seeing more of our residents in person again.  Until then, stay safe and happy holidays!

It's Giving Tuesday!

2020 has been an incredibly challenging year, but our hearts are already warmed with all the support that has come in so far today.  We want to express our deepest gratitude to this caring community and those who have donated to support our programs today.

Here is some of the work your gifts have supported:

A Home for Mike

Picture
One of the major successes of 2020 was the completion of Vergennes Community Apartments, providing 24 brand new homes to low- and moderate-income county individuals and families like Mike.  Mike was generous to share a little of his story with us:

What led you to apply for housing with ACCT?  Were there any particular challenges you faced?
I really wanted to live in Vergennes.  I am from Vergennes and I really wanted to be here, but finding an affordable apartment to rent in Vergennes is almost impossible.  I am retired and I only have SS to live on.

How as life changed since finding an affordable home?
It has taken a huge burden off of my shoulders.  I am very excited to have a place of my own.

What would you like people to in the community to know about affordable housing?
If you are having trouble finding a traditional “market rent” apartment, you should apply to ACCT, it well worth it.

Growing the Mission at Pine Meadow

ACCT partnered with Housing Vermont to acquire Pine Meadow apartments on Jackson Ln back in 2008, and renovated the property at that time.  It wasn't until this year that ACCT had the staff capacity to provide property management services as well.  Now we strive to bring our mission and resources to engaging with residents and ensuring this property will provide affordable high quality housing for future generations.

Back in June, we were able to lease up a family of five who had become homeless due to Covid.  It was a monumental day for this amazing family! Property manager Alice Quesnel was thrilled to get them into their new home with the help of the awesome team at ACCT. Another win for affordable housing!

There's still time to donate and contribute to amazing stories like these! every gift makes a difference, and we are so grateful for your support!
