The Single-Family Home Application Process

Am I qualified?

To receive a Homeland grant, applicants must be first-time homebuyers or must not have owned a home in the last three years. Applicants must also have good credit and make no more than median county income. For lower incomes, additional grants and low-interest loans may be available through the American Dream program and USDA Rural Development.

Applicants must also be able to obtain a mortgage from a traditional lender, as ACCT does not have in-house financing. Usually, buyers combine the Homeland grant with a mortgage from a lending institution such as their local bank or credit union, USDA-Rural Development, or the Vermont Housing Finance Agency.

Due to statewide budget constraints, ACCT will be unable to make new grants to existing homes during the 2010-2011 fiscal year. We continue to accept applications for purchases in Green Woods Village, Shoreham, as of Summer 2010. Please check our For Sale page for affordable homes that are already subsidized through the program and up for resale.

How do I apply?

Call Elise Shanbacker or Terry McKnight at (802) 877-2626, or stop by the ACCT office at 272 Main Street in Vergennes to pick up an application. You can also download the application from the link in the green box.
