Middlebury South Village is one of the newest opportunities for first-time homeowners to take advantage of the grants and loans available to them through the Addison County Community Trust. ACCT has set aside 4 Homeland grants of $40,000 each for buyers purchasing "cottage homes". The Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) has further agreed to provide $25,000 on top of the Homeland grant for these homes, and buyers with incomes below 80% of the median income for Addison County can also qualify for an equity builder grant of up to $15,000 through certain lenders. For a limited time, VHFA is extending their offer of 4.75% interest-rate financing for these homes. NeighborWorks of Western Vermont also has other low- to no-interest financing and closing cost assistance grants available. Through these grants, ACCT and NeighborWorks have made new, attractive, energy efficient homes affordable for Addison County residents.
