Two Historic Shoreham Farmhouses
In December 2008, ACCT partered with the First National Bank of Orwell and Jeremiah Parker Restorations to move a disused, historic farmhouse to Green Woods Village. The home was divided in two and completely restored, given new insulation, electrical, plumbing, and energy efficient heating and appliances. One of the new structures is a three-bedroom farmhouse of roughly 1500sf; the other is a two-bedroom, 900sf cottage. The farmhouse, priced at $163,000 after $72,000 of subsidy (a combination of tax credits and Homeland grants), is currently for sale; see our ad on Craigslist for more information. A further $10,000 Equity Builder grant may be available with financing through the National Bank of Middlebury. The cottage was sold in September 2009 for $128,000 after a $77,000 subsidy. On December 8, 2008, an article praising the project appeared in the Addison Independent. |
