Projects

ACCT develops quality, affordable housing for low- and moderate-income buyers across Addison County, a large rural county in central Vermont. ACCT develops projects on its own, with other Vermont non-profits, and with private developers, who share ACCT's commitment to smart growth, green building, and permanent affordability in mixed-income communities. ACCT develops single-family houses, mobile home communities, and multi-family and elderly apartments.

Mobile Home Parks

Otter Creek Entry

ACCT recently purchased Vaughn's Mobile Home park in Monkton and is making upgrades to park infrastructure. The purchase of the park added nine units to the Trust's affordable housing stock and was an important step in securing the most affordable form of homeownership in Addison County.

ACCT now owns and operates 9 mobile home communities in Addison County with a total of 340 mobile home lots. The parks range in size from the 73-unit Otter Creek Park in downtown Vergennes, to the 9-unit parks in Monkton and Bristol. ACCT has rebuilt much of the infrastructure in these parks and works hard to make the communities not only affordable, but also nice places to live. The residents own their own homes, and ACCT maintains the parks. There are few vacancies, but ACCT can help potential residents find quality new or used homes and straight-forward, affordable financing. These well-run mobile home communities provide workforce housing for employment centers in both Addison and Chittenden counties in Vermont.

Middlebury South Village Apartments, 2007

Since 2005, ACCT has worked with Housing Vermont to develop new apartments for low- and moderate-income families in Addison County. In October of 2006, ACCT in partnership with Housing Vermont opened Stone Hill Apartments, a new, 26-unit building with underground parking—the first new apartment building developed in Middlebury, Vermont in over 15 years. In December of the following year, ACCT opened the 30-unit Middlebury South Village Apartments, in partnership with both Housing Vermont and the Addison County Community Action Group. Both Buildings have been fully leased, and the demand for these apartments is clearly still strong. These apartments provide in-town housing for young and old alike: local workers, teachers, police officers, and people moving out of their family homes after their children are grown.

ACCT maintains offices at 272 Main St. in Vergennes. After rehabilitating this historical property, the Trust now rents two affordable apartments above the office.

ACCT will soon be managing over 200 apartments in Addison County, including the Stone Hill and MSV apartments.
